Dive in to this warm and decadant wrap inspired by the classic sandwich.
1 Slice of ham
1 Slice of turkey
3 tablespoons Grated Swiss cheese
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons Milk
Kosher salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon Canola oil
Fried egg, optional
Place the tortilla on a cutting board. Use a pair of scissors to cut halfway up the tortilla to the center. Now, place the following ingredients in four sections. To the left of the cut, lay the ham. Above the ham, lay the turkey. To the right of the turkey, spread out the cheese. And below the cheese, spread the mustard.
Starting with the ham section, fold the tortilla upward toward the turkey and continue to fold each section in a clockwise manner until you reach the mustard, which will act as the glue to hold the tortilla wrap together.
In a small dish, whisk together the egg and the milk and season with salt and pepper. Dip the tortilla wrap into the egg mixture to coat on both sides.
Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the oil. When hot, place the wrap in the pan and cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes per side. Reduce the heat to low and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.
Place the wrap onto a plate and top with a fried egg, if desired.
This new take on a Monte Cristo sandwich replaces the bread with a tortilla for a delicious and filling meal.
