How to Make the Crispiest Chicken Nuggets

Hitting the drive-thru for some crispy, zesty chicken nuggets is one of the best treats. But what if you just want them at home? You may think frozen chicken nuggets just won't cut it, but you can get fast food-worthy nuggets right in your own kitchen. Here's the one tool you need for DIY drive-thru chicken nuggets.


Frozen nuggets can sometimes get soggy after coming out of the freezer. And the coating just may not resemble that indulgent fast food-fried texture we love when it's cooked in the oven. Solution? The air fryer.


Preheat the air fryer to 400ºF.

Add just enough chicken nuggets to cover the bottom of the basket — overcrowding can lead to soggy and undercooked chicken nuggets! Spray them with cooking spray.

Fry for 8 minutes, flipping the nuggets halfway through. Repeat for as many nuggets as desired.


Air fryers make food extra crispy by circulating hot air. A fan moves the heat evenly around the food, which makes for a faster cook than other methods.
